Hello, I’m Peter van de Pas.

I’ve been working with computers and software since the mid-1980s. Over the years, this has grown into a deep, hands-on understanding of how systems evolve, where they tend to break down, and what helps them remain understandable over time.

My work has largely focused on data integrations, event-driven systems, and DevOps-heavy environments, particularly in complex organizational contexts. I’ve designed and implemented integration patterns, worked extensively with cloud-based infrastructure, and spent many years dealing with the practical realities of running and maintaining software in production.

In recent years, my focus has shifted toward designing and maintaining open-source tooling and advising on software structure, integration, and long-term maintainability at a systems level. I’m particularly interested in reducing accidental complexity and helping teams build software that remains coherent as it grows.

I prefer working close to the problem space itself: understanding constraints, clarifying intent, and shaping systems that are deliberate rather than accidental.
